    ZINK Imaging and Pandigital announce World’s First Zero-Ink 4″ x 6″ Printer

Pandigital Zink Portable Photo PrinterZINK® Imaging, Inc. and Pandigital Inc. announces their alliance to develop and market a new family of printing products that leverages ZINK Imaging’s award winning ZINK® Zero Ink® Printing Technology.

The first product from this alliance is the Pandigital Portable Photo Printer – the world’s first Zero Ink 4×6-inch printer.  It will be available in limited release in Q4 2009 with national distribution planned for Q1 2010.

“We are thrilled to have Pandigital join our partner network,” said Wendy Caswell, President and CEO, ZINK Imaging. “Throughout Pandigital’s history, they have driven growth in existing and new product categories by making products easier to enjoy and by leveraging innovative technology and design.  Their corporate mission of delivering simple and elegant products to the mass market consumer at a great value is a perfect match for what the ZINK Technology stands for – an unparalleled value proposition, simplicity in printing, and ZINK for everyone.”

ZINK Technology provides Pandigital with a technology platform from which it will launch a new generation of devices that are compact, easy-to-use, and earth-friendly. Powering these ZINK-enabled products is the patented ZINK Paper®, an advanced composite material with embedded yellow, magenta, and cyan dye crystals.  ZINK-enabled devices use heat to activate and colorize these crystals, radically simplifying the printing process.

As a result, the Pandigital Portable Photo Printer requires no ink cartridges or ribbons and produces borderless full-color 4×6-inch prints quickly and simply.  Because the printer is incredibly compact and designed to work without the need for a computer, customers can take it virtually anywhere to print, share and enjoy photos taken in real-time. It features a memory card slot, a preview LCD, and an intuitive user interface for previewing and printing photos with a touch of a button.  The Pandigital-ZINK system was designed from the ground up to meet the exacting performance requirements of home photo printing customer.

“The fact that today’s busy consumers want to more thoroughly and simply enjoy their digital images is the cornerstone of Pandigital’s success in the digital photo frame industry,” said Dean Finnegan, CEO and founder, Pandigital. “Our new Pandigital Portable Photo Printer is the perfect complement to our award-winning lines of digital photo frames and PhotoLink scanners, as they give consumers an additional way to enjoy their digital images and treasured memories. And ZINK is the only technology that allows us to completely eliminate the hassle, cost, mess and waste of ink cartridges while instantly delivering a high-quality beautiful 4×6-inch photo.”

Pandigital is ZINK Imaging’s newest partner and represents the continued expansion of the ZINK business and technology ecosystem.  The first ZINK-enabled products pioneered mobile printing from camera phones and digital cameras.  The Pandigital Portable Photo Printer is the fifth ZINK-enabled product to hit the market.
