Android Developers Get Adobe Photoshop.com Mobile Editor

Adobe’s Photoshop.com Mobile has seen a few developments over the past few months, first being released as a free photo editor for the Apple iPhone and subsequently being ported to Android phones in November of last year.

Building on this technology, Adobe has announced today the availability of a new Photoshop mobile editor that allows third party software developers to add Photoshop functionality into their software applications, thereby allowing for easier image editing.

As part of the press release, Doug Mack, vice president and general manager of Digital Imaging and Rich Media Solutions took the opportunity to take a shot at Apple stating:

    Whamberry Handheld Keyboard & Mouse

Unlike iPhone, the Android platform allows us to make the Photoshop.com editor broadly available to developers so they can provide it within any application they are working on. Photoshop functionality can then easily be accessed from an online auction, real estate or social media application so users can quickly fix photos and make them look their best, before being showcased.

You have to hope that Apple and Adobe can sort out their problems because Adobe Photoshop is one of the best, if not the best, photo editor available and it’s a shame that Apple is placing restrictions on it’s availability, though they have stated their rationale for it.

Photoshop.com Mobile for Android 1.1 also comes with a few new photo effects such as pop art and vibrant colors.  Also included with this offering are soft black, white and warm vintage tools which can be used to give pictures that vintage or aged appearance.

The new app is available as a free download through the Android Market
