    Patagonia MLC Bag

The Patagonia MLC, (or Maximum Legal Carry-On), is a soft-sided suitcase made with recycled fabric that holds 3-5 days worth of clothing, converts to a backpack and still manages to meet airline carry-on requirements.

It holds lots! Patagonia says it can hold between 3-5 days worth of clothes, so it’s perfect for traveling. The MLC opens like a book, and has a compression pocket that doubles as a hang-able toiletry kit. There’s also a second pocket for storing dirty clothes, and a padded laptop sleeve. The bag has both a padded split-shoulder strap and converts to a backpack. When in shoulder bag mode, the backpack straps are ingeniously tucked away. The bag also has a smaller pocket for things you need direct access to, like airline tickets or your iPod…very well thought out.

The Patagonia MLC comes with Patagonia’s guarantee, it always has room, fits in overhead compartments and slides easily through security. It measures 20.5 x 4.5 x 13.5 inches, and is feathery 2.9-pounds. Available at Patagonia, as well as Amazon for around $160.
