At Computex 2010, a company called Koegler Electronics has introduced a very interesting duel-purpose product called the AudioMouse.
When using the Koegler Electronics AudioMouse as a handset phone, the mouthpiece flips out on a folding arm, placing it an appropriate distance from the earphone. Stereo audio jacks let you listen through external speakers or earphones, plus you can speak into it via an external microphone input.
The optical mouse is rated at 1,000 CPI, or counts per inch. It can reportedly be used on a wide variety of surfaces, and is USB and PS/2 compatible. There are no mechanical parts, and it will go into power saving mode when not in motion. It’s slender, too, with a thickness of 15mm and a weight of just 50 grams.
No word yet on price or availability, but more technical details are available on the Koegler Electronics website.
