This week word that a hack had revealed email addresses of about 114,000 iPad 3G users started to circulate around the web. The company that hacked the email database was Goatse Security and they used some iPad 3G ICC IDs that had been posted to the web and a vulnerability on the AT&T website to do so.
Fox News reports that the FBI is now investigating the breach. AT&T says that the breach has now been closed and that the vulnerability was only an issue for owners of the 3G iPad. The FBI didn’t offer any details on its investigation.
All the FBI did state was that it was investigating “the potential cyber threat” that the breach created. The email list that was exposed continued email addresses of government officials and executives at major corporations.
