The rumor mill is suggesting that Apple would update their iPads with a built-in camera just before the holidays. While Apple’s marketing strategy has historically run a product’s lifecycle to death, Apple’s rush for a new interation of the successful iPad may be a response to the many competitor on the horizon. Apple might make an attempt at thwarting the success of any competitive products before this key shopping time of the year. Additionally, this could improve Apple’s strategy of building more value to its flagship products, rather than slashing prices to increase sales volume.
It’s questionable if Facetime would roll out for the iPad at the same time, but with a big software push coming to the touchscreen device around this time, which lends itself to the likelihood of a product refresh, it seems likely that this rumor could come to fruition.
