Comcast Xcalibur to compete with Google TV and TiVo

–Comcast has begun testing features on their beta set-top cable box, code-named Xcalibur, that rival what Google TV and TiVo are doing in the living room — letting cable set-top boxes access streaming video from the internet.

Comcast is breaking ground by entering Web TV arena with Xcalibur

A test audience in Georgia are testing Xcalibur in their homes, and the box combines a DVR with unified search across cable VOD and the internet, plus social media tie-ins, but does not include a full web browser.  There are rumors indicating that the Comcast box could launch to other areas in 2011, and become the next Xfinity branded tie-in next to current efforts bringing TV content to iOS , Android and other platforms.
