iPad 2 rumored to sport redesigned case & wide-range speakers
—Japanese Apple fan site Kanteidan Blog reports several unconfirmed details about Apple’s upcoming second-generation iPad. The case on the iPad 2 will feature notable design changes compared to the current iPad model, according to the report.
It will measure 239 mm by 186 mm, which is slightly smaller than Apple’s current 242.8 mm by 189.7 mm iPad case. The back will reportedly be flat instead of convex, like the current model’s case back, and the bezel surrounding the 9.7-inch display will be smaller. Finally, Kanteidan’s source claims the iPad 2 will feature wide-range speakers for improved audio quality. Apple’s next-generation iPad is expected to begin shipping from manufacturers in January or February, with a release likely falling some time in the first quarter.
