Apple iPad 2 to have 2048×1536 resolution Retina Display
—Blog MacRumors is saying that the Apple iPad 2 will feature a 2048×1536 super high-resolution Retina Display. The 2048×1536 resolution is double the existing resolution of the current iPad and would make scaling apps very, very straight forward for developers, just like with the iPhone’s Retina Display on the iPhone 4.
Apparently MacRumors found pixel-doubled images in some Apple iOS apps, and they are exactly double the resolution of the existing icons. They are also named iPadx2, just like the iPhone’s higher resolution files. It’ll take a strong GPU to power those kind of graphics, but rumors of Apple’s upcoming iPad 2 might have such a graphics processor to handle these specs. We’ll see in a few months.
