Walking Table makes moving furniture 1-man-job instead of 2 (video)

Moving furniture can be a bitch.  I’ve sung that song a million times, and have had to rely on help for the big pieces.  You know the drill- hire your friends for the cost of a box of pizza and a 12-pack of cold ones.  Moving most pieces of furniture is generally speaking a two person job. A new furniture designer, Wouter Scheublin, has come up with a genius way to help out in this endeavor by actully designing the pieces to walk themselves. Appropriately called “WalkingTable” , the piece has legs that crawl like a spider.  There’s also a book case as well.

Essentially the design involves a set of mechanics that when pushed, come to life, and walk like a giant spider.  They’re available in a walnut edition of 8 pieces, but pricing has not been announced.  Check out the video and be prepared to be mezsmerized.
