HTC ‘Status’ Facebook phone hitting AT&T

The HTC’s ChaCha, the company’s first device with dedicated Facebook button and deep Facebook integration, will be launching on AT&T in the coming weeks. BGR is reporting that the launch could take place as soon as one week from now, and will be dubbed ‘Salsa’.

Following some troubles HTC has had with the device’s name, the QWERTY-equipped Facebook phone will land on AT&T as the HTC Status.  HTC is also saying that despite earlier reports to the contrary, the other handset with dedicated Facebook button — HTC’s Salsa — won’t be hitting AT&T in the near future, if at all.

So to sum up, the HTC ChaCha will now be called ‘Salsa’ on AT&Ts network, and the original ‘Salsa’ looks like it will be dead before arrival.
