Apple will sell Lightning to HDMI and VGA Adapters

iPhone 5 owners who learned that the iPhone 5′s Lightning adapter doesn’t output video signals can now rejoice.  Apple will sell Lightning to HDMI and VGA cables in the coming months, according to reports.

Based on the iPhone 4S’s current 30-pin to HDMI adapter price, Apple might sell the new adapters for about $39.  At launch, it would appear the only way to output video from the iPhone 5 to a TV display is via AirPlay, which requires an Apple TV. But that’s not all.  According to reports, the Lightning cable will also allow USB hosting.  A feature long reserved for the iPad to attach USB cameras and keyboards through the Camera Connection Kit, analysts believes the Lightning cable will be capable of doing the same thing on the iPhone 5.
