While there was no question Sony’s PlayStation 4 would sell well on launch, Sony has revealed that it sold over one million PS4s in North America during the console’s first 24 hours of availability, which gets the company a long way toward its goal of moving five million units before the end of its fiscal year in March.
It also indicates that Sony won’t see the dismal response Nintendo got with it’s low 400k-U.S.-unit sales of their Wii U systems. It remains to be see whether Sony can maintain this momentum, especially in lieu of the Xbox One launch just five days away.
