Google Maps New Group Event Feature

Trying to coordinate a place to eat with a bunch of people can be a hair-pulling scenario. You’re either trying to describe a restaurant to people, or sending them links to the restaurant. Either way, it’s damn near impossible to make everyone happy, especially when you’re trying to facilitate a consensus for a meeting place via text or messenger.

Google is making that simpler from now on by rolling out a Group Planning feature on Google Maps for Android and iOS that helps you coordinate events with friends. When you’ve found places to go, you only have to press and hold to add it to a shortlist that stays on-screen as you find places. Once you’re satisfied, you can both share the entire list on messaging services and vote on the choices from Maps itself.

The feature is live and ready to start using, and is addressing one of the most common problems with nights out in a simple, straightforward way.
