There are a few different types of dedicated RV water filters around, and as such, each one has a different function / purpose. While some water filters can make your water taste better, others are designed to filter out harmful chemicals or germs. As such, no single filter can keep every type of contaminant out of your drinking water. However, one thing is certain. Filtered water is, without a doubt, a much healthier option than unfiltered water. Ultimately, a quality water filter that’s independently tested for the type of water in the you’re visiting with your RV will greatly reduce the risk of contaminants in your drinking water, thus likely having long term health benefits. This brings us to the CLEAR2O DIRTGUARD SEDIMENT PRE-FILTER CPF1000.
The CLEAR2O DIRTGUARD SEDIMENT PRE-FILTER CPF1000 is an inline sediment pre-filter that’s supposed to be used as a two-stage filtration system after combining it with almost any standard Inline RV water filter that’s currently available on the market (most brands work with this system). With it, users can ultimately transform any inline RV filter into a Two Stage Filtration System, which will ultimately allow them to optimize their RV’s carbon filter’s performance.
By using CLEAR2O’s DirtGUARD SEDIMENT PRE-FILTER, RVers can have a reliable Two Stage Filtration System that will actively block any unwanted sediments / particulates at the 20 micron level, thus prolonging the life of their inline filter and ensuring that they get the most use out of it, while also providing them with the cleanest water possible at all times.
Thanks to this inline sediment pre-filter, RVers can easily enhance the water quality that comes from their chosen inline water source each and every time they go on a new adventure.
Now, let’s take a more detailed look at the CLEAR2O DIRTGUARD SEDIMENT PRE-FILTER CPF1000 and see exactly how this two-stage filtration system works, as well as what it has to offer.
DESIGN & SPECS
As mentioned before, the CLEAR2O DIRTGUARD SEDIMENT PRE-FILTER CPF1000 is an inline sediment pre-filter that’s supposed to be used as a two-stage filtration system. The system comes with a total of 5 components, and those are: a 20 Micron Sediment Filter, a Pre-Filter Housing, a Backwash Adapter Fitting, a Canister Wrench, and an included Hose Extender.
The 20 Micron Sediment Filter
This inline sediment pre-filter two-stage filtration system’s main component is obviously its 20 Micron Sediment Filter.
This special ridge Polyethylene water filter features a compact and durable design and is guaranteed to provide its users with a higher dirt holding capacity than most other two-stage water filtration system that are currently available on the market.
Furthermore, this high-quality 20 Micron Sediment Filter can actively block several different unwanted contaminants like dirt, silt, sand, rust, and many other particulates from your chosen inline water source at the 20 micron level so that you can ultimately get the cleanest water possible while also prolonging the life of your inline filter. Thanks to that, you can also get the most use out of your filter at the same time.
The Pre-Filter Housing
Additionally, this two-stage filtration system also accounts for a Pre-Filter Housing that greatly protects the previously mentioned 20 Micron Sediment Filter from any damage and/or rough weather conditions.
The Included Attachments / Accessories
Lastly, the system’s three (x3) included attachments (its Backwash Adapter Fitting, Canister Wrench, and Hose Extender) allows users to have an easier time installing the system.
COMPATIBILITY
As mentioned before, this inline sediment pre-filter two-stage filtration system features a wide compatibility with several different water filter brands, meaning that it works with almost any standard Inline RV water filter that’s currently available on the market.
That includes not only CLEAR2O’s very own RV AND MARINE INLINE WATER FILTER (CRV2006), but also many other water filter brands such as CAMCO, Aqua Crest, and Amazon Basics.
INSTALLATION / SETUP
Installing the system is also quite easy, as all you have to do is to carefully place the system’s 20 Micron Sediment Filter within its Pre-Filter Housing and then attach the 20 Micron Sediment Filter to your choice of standard Inline RV water filter (either a blue or green filter, or pretty much any other in-line filter that you can think of).
After that, by using the system’s included Canister Wrench, attach any the included attachments (the system’s Backwash Adapter Fitting and Hose Extender) that you require to your selected inline water source and you’re ready to go.
While using the CLEAR2O DIRTGUARD SEDIMENT PRE-FILTER CPF1000 you’ll notice a really nice water flow (actually very, very good water flow) and you’ll also be able to get better tasting water than by using a standard Inline RV water filter alone, which was exactly what I was hoping for.
MAINTENANCE
Every now and then, sediments might clog the system’s filters (both its 20 Micron Sediment Filter and the secondary smaller filter that you’ll have attached to the system). As such, if the filter becomes too clogged, then water can’t properly pass through, and the filter is no longer able to do its job.
So, as expected from most inline sediment pre-filters that are used as two-stage filtration systems, backwashing the system’s internal 20 Micron Sediment Filter between uses is important, as that is what will allow you to extend both its internal filter’s and the rest of the entire system’s lifespan for a long period of time.
I loved the fact that you can easily take this system apart and quickly backwash its dedicated 20 Micron Sediment Filter. This will ultimately keep a lot of stuff that would normally go into your choice of standard Inline RV water filter out of it, and so, you’re guaranteed that this two-stage filtration system will allow you to extend the life of your in-line filters.
It’s also recommend that users replace the system’s filter every 6 months, or, if used often to filter inline water sources, then it should be replaced as needed / as users see fit (meaning when the filter is starting to show itself as old/very used).
FINAL THOUGHTS
The CLEAR2O DIRTGUARD SEDIMENT PRE-FILTER CPF1000 is an inline sediment pre-filter that can be used as a two-stage filtration system to extend the lifespan of almost any standard Inline RV water filter.
By using this two stage filtration system, passionate RVers can have a reliable water filtration system that will actively block any unwanted sediments / particulates, firstly at the 20 micron level, and then at smaller sizes, which not only improves the water quality of their selected water source for drinking, but also giving it a better taste, thus making it much better for their health.
Overall, this is a really nice new product. It’s extremely compact and durable, and it is also way cheaper to use the CLEAR2O DIRTGUARD to create a two stage water filtration system than by relying on using canisters to do that.
The system’s pre-filter works great and I could see exactly that when I opened it up to clean it with the backwashing attachment. The filter went from white to light brown and back to white again after cleaning. Ultimately, this will extend your in-line filter’s lifespan for a very long time.
If you’re interested in buying it, each set is currently going for $40 only. You can order yours online right now, directly from CLEAR2O’s official shopping page, which you can access by clicking this link.
