The Smart Home technology available nowadays is simply amazing, as it not only allows homeowners to enjoy a ton of smart functionalities for their Smart Home gadgets like automatically adjusting their thermostat or even rocking some tunes on their Smart Speakers System via a Voice Assistant like Amazon Alexa, but also allows them to protect their home in a much more reliable way. The vivint smart home system is a good example. For the latter situation, we are of course talking about Smart Home Security Systems. These innovative security system are composed by a group of motion sensors that are meant to be installed on your doors and windows, for which those sensors are then all connected to one main hub / base station that keeps the whole security system up and running 24/7.
Now, with so many options available on the market, it might be hard to choose what Home Security System to go with, especially for homeowners doing this for the very first time. That said, if you’re looking for one of the best Home Security Systems to get in 2021, then you can be assured that the X-Sense Home Security System won’t disappoint you.
The X-Sense Home Security System is a Alexa-enabled wireless alarm system that combines a Base Station HUB, a Motion Sensors, 2 Entry Sensors, and a Remote Control together to allow homeowners to easily keep track of what’s going on in their house.
Featuring a fairly easy installation / set-up process and requiring absolutely no additional contracts or any subscription fees, this is without a doubt one of the best (and possibly even the best) Home Security Systems that you can currently get.
With it, homeowners can better manage their security devices and quickly respond to any potential emergencies related to unwanted intruders, and all of that can be easily done via the system’s Smartphone Companion App (called the X-Sense Home Security App – discussed in greater detail at the end of the article).
Now, without any further ado, let’s see exactly how this home security wireless alarm system is designed to work, and also talk a little about everything that it has to offer you.
DESIGN & SPECS
First and foremost, I’d like to note that the X-Sense Home Security System is available for purchasing in two different versions:
For smaller homes and for a quicker and simpler setup, we have the 5-piece kit, which is the the set that we’re reviewing in detail in this article. This 5-piece kit includes a Base Station (meaning the system’s dedicated Hub), one (x1) Motion Sensor, two (x2) Entry-Sensors (used for Doors and/or Windows), and an included Remote-Control (used for controlling the system’s functionalities).
Still, for bigger houses, you could instead get X-Sense’s 8-piece kit of their Home Security System, which comes with one additional motion sensor and two more door/window sensors.
On a final side note, I’d also like to point out that this home security wireless alarm system is also designed to work with one additional sensor, which is none other than the company’s X-Sense XS01-WT Wi-Fi Smoke Detector, which we’ve already reviewed in great detail here at GadgetGram (for which we invite you to have a look at review too), which is sold separately.
Back to our review at hands. As said before, the X-Sense Home Security System is a Alexa-enabled wireless alarm system that combines a Base Station HUB, a Motion Sensors, 2 Entry Sensors, and a Remote Control together to allow homeowners to easily keep track of what’s going on inside their house.
Base Station
Starting with the system’s main unit, we have its Base Station, which is designed to work as the central hub of this home security wireless alarm system.
The system’s Base Station comes at a reasonably compact size, which makes it fairly easy for homeowners to set it up in pretty much on any countertop area. Moreover, the Base Station also features a very minimalist and ultra-modern design that allows the unit to easily blend in with the rest of your furniture.
Now, note that since the system’s Base Station is designed to work as the central hub of this home security wireless alarm system, this is what the system will be using as its main unit to establish a wireless connection between all of its other devices (meaning its Motion Sensor and its two Entry Sensors), which you can then keep track of via the Smartphone App, which provides you with complete control of your home’s security, anytime, anywhere.
That said, it’s worth noting that the system’s Base Station actually supports multiple connections, meaning that it can have several different sensors connected to it. To be a little more specific, the system’s Base Station can have up to 32 sensors as well as 6 remote controls connected to it.
Moreover, for its Wireless Connectivity, the Base Station features an extensive wireless range that can go up to 1.25 miles (2000 m) without any potential obstruction, as it uses the latest Spread Spectrum technology.
Thanks to that, this home security wireless alarm system offers all users (tech-savvy or not) an effortless setup process, and the same level of ease also goes for the operating / managing the whole system.
On top of that, the Base Station itself also comes equipped with a built-in 105 dB Loud Alarm that’s used by the system to alert anyone within the household (or nearby – meaning your neighbors) whenever an intruder is detected.
Finally, I’d also like to note that while the system’s Base Station is electric-powered (via AC power – 110-120 V/60 Hz), the system’s dedicated hub device also comes equipped with an internal 1800 mAh Lithium-Ion battery that’s designed to offer the unit a total of 12 hours of backup power, which ultimately helps to ensure that this system always has an uninterrupted power supply, which also includes any potential power outages.
Motion Sensor
Moving on to the kit’s included Motion Sensor (or sensors, if you do decide to get the 8-piece kit instead of our 5-piece kit review unit). The system’s included Motion Sensor(s) is/are reasonably easy to install and is/are designed to constantly monitor a designated area, for which whenever a movement is detected, the system will then let you know about that via its dedicated Smartphone Companion App.
The system’s Motion Sensor is designed to work within a 110° Detection Angle. This Motion Sensor integrates a few different components that give this motion sensor unit a 5-level sensor sensitivity.
Thanks to its 110° Detection Angle, the system’s Motion sensor can ultimately be setup at a high-level to provide homeowners with a very wide 39-foot Detection Coverage for its monitored area(s).
Still, if any families find it necessary, homeowners can always adjust the sensor sensitivity within the App’s settings and configure it properly in order to avoid any potential false alarms that would otherwise be set off by kids or even pets.
Entry Sensor
Moving further on to the system’s next component, we have its Entry Sensors, which not only feature a compact design, but, just like the system’s motion sensor, are also fairly easy to install.
For installing these Entry Sensors, this can quickly be done by simply placing the system’s entry sensors both on your doors and/or windows, more specifically, at the area where they’d normally open up, thus splitting up these Entry Sensors’ two halves when a door or window is opened in order to trigger them.
If that’s the case (meaning a potential break-in), since the system’s Entry Sensors are designed to work in an extremely accurate and sensitive manner, for any door or window that’s forced up while having those equipped with these Entry Sensors, the system will immediately send you a Smartphone Notification via its dedicated App to alert you about any attempted break-ins.
Last but not least, it’s also worth noting that the system’s Entry Sensor feature an approximate battery life of around 3 years, which is definitely a whole lot, so, a great feature to see here.
Remote Control
Last but not least, we have the system’s dedicated Remote Control, which comes included in the kit (no matter if you get the 5-piece kit or the 8-piece kit), and also already comes together with a set of batteries that are used to power it.
By using the system’s remote, it only takes homeowners a single button to switch between the system’s different Security Modes, which gives both children as well as the elderly (or any other type of user that might have difficulty operating the system’s proprietary Smartphone App) a solid and reliable way of adjusting the system between its different security-monitoring levels.
Integrated onto the remote, users also have a dedicated Life-Saving SOS Button, which is an outstanding feature that can be particularly used by anyone with mobility issues (elderly or not) to trigger and alert the household (via the Base Station’s integrated 105 dB Loud Alarm) that something is wrong with just a simple click on the remote’s SOS Button.
When triggering this SOS function, the system will also send the homeowner a Smartphone Notification via its proprietary App with a message that informs them that the system’s SOS alarm has been triggered, as this could prove invaluable in the event of a loved one requiring immediate assistance with nobody around at the time.
Finally, know that the included batteries for the system’s Remote Control can offer it around 5 years of battery life.
THE SMARTPHONE COMPANION APP – The X-Sense Home Security App
Lastly, we’ll talk a bit about the system’s dedicated Smartphone Companion App, called the X-Sense Home Security App, which users can find available to download for free for both iOS and Android devices.
Via the X-Sense Home Security App, homeowners can have complete control of the X-Sense Home Security System.
In other words, by using the X-Sense Home Security App, homeowners can have 24/7 Home Protection for their household, as the App provides them with constant monitoring for their home(s), while also providing them with instant Smartphone Notifications for any potential home break-ins.
That said, if anything unusual is detected by the system, these Smartphone Notifications are sent to the homeowner(s) Smartphone(s) in real-time, which basically ensures homeowners that their home’s security is always within arm’s reach.
Moreover, the App also offers homeowners a customized level of Home Security, as almost all of the system’s different security functionalities can be set-up and adjusted within the app. As such, via the App, users can also tailor this home security wireless alarm system to work accordingly to their personal preferences, with the possibility to choose between several different Security Modes and a few different security settings for each of the system’s different sensor.
OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES – Voice Assistant Compatibility with Amazon Alexa
Best of all, the X-Sense Home Security System is also designed to be fully compatible with Amazon Alexa, which means that you can also enable as well as disable the system with a simple Alexa-ready Voice Command by simply saying: “Alexa, arm my home”.
