For any music lovers out there, it can sometimes be hard to find the best pair of earbuds that truly fit your musical tastes. Nowadays, there are many different models of True Wireless Stereo Earbuds to choose from, with most models offering their users a reasonably decent sound quality and a fairly long battery life, all while also integrating convenient functionalities that are focused on everyday-use, such as Quick-Touch Controls and Voice Assistant support for easy-to-use Voice Controls. Now, while all of quality-of-life features already bring much to the table, it can still be hard to find the right pair of TWS Earbuds for those who prefer a little extra bass in their music. That is… unless you’re told about the SOUNDPEATS H2, which are undoubtedly some of the best TWS Earbuds that you can find to date.
The SOUNDPEATS H2 are high-end TWS Earbuds that feature Hybrid Dual Drivers for a crystal-clear high-quality stereo sound, Bluetooth 5.2 Connectivity, All-in-One Quick-Touch Controls, Voice Assistant support for easy-to-use Voice Commands, and up to 20 hours of battery life.
Now, it’s worth noting that these TWS Earbuds are actually a second-generation model of SOUNDPEATS’s previously released SOUNDPEATS H1 TWS Earbuds, which we’ve already covered in the past.
That said, this newer SOUNDPEATS H2 model now features a more modern and slightly more stylish design, and the earbuds’ dedicated Wireless Charging Case now has its Battery Status Indicator LED Lights outside the case (moved from the inner side of the case), which now makes it easier for users to have an idea of the charging case’s remaining battery power.
On top of that, there have been two other major improvements made to these 2nd-gen earbuds. The first one is their improvement in sound quality when compared to the older H1 model, as these newer H2 earbuds are now capable of delivering a slightly more punchy bass while still delivering the same sort of crystal clear mids and highs (treble).
The second major improvement comes with the earbuds’ built-in Microphones. While these earbuds still come with the same set of 4 built-in Microphones that use the latest cVc 8.0 Noise Cancellation Technology, the downgrade from IPX5 Waterproof-Rating to IPX4 Waterproof-Rating basically reduces the Waterproof coating on the earbuds, which ultimately allows the earbuds’ 4 internal microphones to pick-up a user’s voice much better overall.
Other than that, we still have the same support to Quick-Touch Controls as well as Voice Assistant support, and we also still have the same Advanced Game Mode that allows users to lower the earbuds’ latency further down for a virtually lag-free gaming experience.
In addition, SOUNDPEATS also kept the older model’s Bluetooth 5.2 Connectivity as well as support to the aptX Adaptive codec, which basically allows these TWS Earbuds to deliver a robust, high-quality, low-latency and low-bit rate wireless audio.
Lastly, the SOUNDPEATS H2 only have one really noticeable downgrade, and that’s the fact that they’ve lost support to QI Wireless Charging and that they also got their battery life cut down to half from the H1’s original 40 hours of battery life, for which the H2 now only offer you 20 hours.
Regardless of all these changes, we’d still like to invite all our readers to join us on our detailed review of the SOUNDPEATS H2, where we’ll have a more detailed look at everything that these TWS Earbuds have to offer you.
DESIGN & SPECS
So, starting with the earbuds’ design, the SOUNDPEATS H2 feature a fairly compact design that’s primary focused on comfort and portability, with each earbud measuring just 1.80 inches long by 2.54 inches wide by 1.28 inches tall / thick (45.8 x 64.7 x 32.6 mm). And speaking of portability, both earbuds are also extremely lightweight, with each weighing just a measly 0.16 oz. (4.8 g).
Now, as said before, for their design, the H2 feature a somewhat more modern and slightly more stylish design when compared to their predecessor model (the SOUNDPEATS H1), with the company deciding to change from the older model’s (H1’s) in-ear design to a Stem Style-focused design for this newer model (the H2).
Still for the earbuds’ design, we now have a Sci-Fi- and Space-inspired color scheme, with the earbuds outer shell now portraying a Silver and Rose Gold body that somewhat more stylish than the H1’s simple black body.
Then, when speaking in terms of comfort, the H2 still feature a high-end ergonomic design that’s mostly focused on an all-day-wearing experience, as they come together with three (x3) included pairs of Inter Changeable Eartips that come in different sizing options (which are (S)mall, (M)edium, and (L)arge).
The fact users are offered different sizing options for their H2’s eartips not only ensures that you’ll be able to get a nice and comfortable fit, but ultimately also helps to make the earbuds’ fit more tightly, which consequently helps to suppress / block a lot of the passive outside noise down to a barely noticeable level, thus making your listening experience much, much better.
Again, it’s worth remind our readers that the H2 TWS Earbuds also feature a IPX4 Waterproof-Rating, which got downgraded from the H1’s IPX5 Waterproof-Rating. By just slightly downgrading the waterproof coating for its 2nd-gen model of TWS Earbuds, what SOUNDPEATS was looking to achieve here was to allow the 4 internal microphones from these newer TWS Earbuds to pick-up a user’s voice in a much better quality overall.
Regardless, the earbuds will still be fine against any unexpected water splashes, as well as minimal / weak rain drops, or even sweat, with the only downside that you can’t have these TWS Earbuds submerged in water (in comparison to the older SOUNDPEATS H1 model, that is).
And just like the previous model, the H2 also come together with a dedicated Wireless Charging Case that can also be used for storing the earbuds safely, which also features the same Sci-Fi- and Space-inspired color scheme that’s seen on the SOUNDPEATS H2 TWS Earbuds.
Just like the earbuds themselves, their Charging Case is also fairly compact and reasonably lightweight, measuring just 2.55 inches long by 1.73 inches wide by 1.29 inches tall (65 x 44 x 33 mm), and weighing just 4.09 oz. (116 g).
AUDIO SPECS & AUDIO QUALITY
Moving on to the earbuds’ Audio Specs and their overall Audio Quality, the H2 still kept the same crystal-clear high-quality stereo sound that was offered by the H1, as each earbud still integrates the same patented crossover of a 8.6mm Super Dynamic Driver that’s combined with a Knowles Balanced Armature Driver, which was already found on the previous model of these TWS Earbuds.
As mentioned earlier, the main difference between the H1 and the H2 is that these 2nd-gen SOUNDPEATS’ TWS Earbuds are now capable of delivering a more punchy (and fairly more enjoyable) bass, all while the treble (meaning the highs / high-sound frequencies) are still reproduced at a detailed and crystal-clear sound quality, and the same goes for the mids (the mid-frequency sounds), which are played at a very, very natural and smooth sound quality.
The end result is simply a crystal-clear sound quality that’s slightly better than the H1 when accounting for a punchier, and therefore, more noticeable bass reproduction.
Moreover, and as stated earlier, these earbuds also come with the same set of 4 built-in Microphones that use the latest cVc 8.0 Noise Cancellation Technology, which greatly suppresses / blocks a lot of the passive outside noise down to as low as 28dB. This ultimately helps to ensure you have a better listening experience, both when listening to music as well as when performing Voice Calls.
Once again, the choice made by the company to downgrade from IPX5 Waterproof-Rating to IPX4 Waterproof-Rating ultimately helps the earbuds’ 4 internal microphones to pick-up a user’s voice in a much better manner, which is great for when you’re looking to use these TWS Earbuds to perform any personal Voice Calls.
INTERFACE / TOUCH CONTROLS
Just like the company’s previous SOUNDPEATS H1 TWS Earbuds, the H2 also integrate the same All-in-One Quick-Touch Controls.
Firstly, performing a simple Single Tap on either the Left or Right Earbud allows you to respectively Lower or Increase their Volume. In addition, Double Tapping either Earbud allows users to Play/Pause any audio / music that they’re currently listening to.
Then, specifically for Phone Calls, users can also Double Tap either earbud to Answer / Hang Up a Phone Call. Additionally, we also have Long Press Controls, which, still for Phone Call Controls, performing a Long Press (for around 2 seconds) on either Earbud allows you to Switch Between 2 Active Calls, while performing a slightly shorter Long Press (of around 1.5 seconds) allows you to Reject Incoming Phone Calls.
Additionally, for Media Playback Controls, users can also perform a Long Press (for around 1.5 seconds) on either the Left or Right Earbud, which allows them to respectively Go Back to the Previous Track or Advance to the Next Track.
Lastly, these TWS Earbuds also feature two (x2) Triple-Tap functions. Basically, performing a Triple Tap on the Right Earbud allows users to enable the earbuds’ previously mentioned Smart AI Assistant for easy-to-use Voice Commands.
Alternatively, performing a Triple Tap on the Left Earbud allows users to activate their Advanced Game Mode to lower the earbuds’ latency further down to just 60 ms, which ultimately allows users to achieve a virtually lag-free gaming experience when playing games on their Smartphone while using the SOUNDPEATS H2.
It’s also worth noting that simply Taking Out or Placing Back the earbuds allows users to Automatically Power the earbuds On/Off.
CONNECTIVITY
Regarding the earbuds’ connectivity, the H2 kept the same Qualcomm QCC3040 Bluetooth chip that was used in the H1 model, which gives these TWS Earbuds Bluetooth 5.2 Connectivity.
That same Bluetooth 5.2 Connectivity also offers the earbuds support to the aptX Adaptive codec (which is a next-gen dynamically adjustable audio codec that’s designed to deliver a robust, high-quality, low-latency and low-bit rate wireless audio), as well as support to Sub-band Coding / SBC (which is a mandatory and default codec for all stereo Bluetooth headphones that works with the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP – a standard Bluetooth stereo streaming protocol), and also support to AAC (an audio standard for lossy digital audio compression).
BATTERY & BATTERY LIFE
For their battery life, each earbud integrates a 32mAh battery, which gives both earbuds a battery life of around 5 hours of continuous playback time. (Note that this time-frame will basically depend on your Volume Settings and other of the earbuds’ functionalities that you may or may not have enabled).
Additionally, the earbud’s Wireless Charging Case comes equipped with a much larger and much powerful 300mAh battery that offers users an additional 3 charges of 5 hours each, thus totaling the earbuds full battery life to exactly 20 hours.
I’d again like to point out that the earbuds’ dedicated Wireless Charging Case now has its Battery Status Indicator LED Lights outside the case (moved from the inner side of the case), which now makes it easier for users to have an idea of the charging case’s remaining battery power.
Now, while the older model (SOUNDPEATS H1) featured support to QI Wireless Charging, this newer H2 model doesn’t anymore, which, in my personal opinion, is the only major downgrade that the SOUNDPEATS H2 have when compared to their older model (the H1).
On that note, keep in mind that these TWS Earbuds can only be recharged via their included USB-C Charging Cable (DC 5V 500mA Charging Voltage). Furthermore, there’s also no support to Wired Fast Charging, so keep that in mind as well Still, charging the earbuds only takes users around 1.5 hours, so that’s not really a major deal-breaker.
THE SMARTPHONE COMPANION APP – The SOUNDPEATS App
While the SOUNDPEATS H2 are the company’s brand-new model of TWS Earbuds, which still do not feature support to their SOUNDPEATS App (available both for IOS and Android devices), the company vouched that in a few months, the H2 will soon be compatible with their App, so all you have to do is wait.
To put it simply, the SOUNDPEATS App allows users to further fine-tune the earbuds’ different sound settings for a more enjoyable listening experience.
