If you’re someone who enjoys grilling and barbecuing outdoors, then your best option is to get a portable gas grill. Unlike charcoal and pellet grills, which take longer to ignite and reach appropriate cooking temperatures, gas grills can provide instant heat and can better maintain a stable level of high heat due to the type of fuel source they use, which is typically propane. Moreover, they’re also much easier to turn off. In addition, the clean up process of gas grills is also much quicker and noticeably less messy than cleaning a charcoal or a pellet grill, which require you to dispose of accumulated ashes once you’re done cooking with them. Plus, gas grills also have the advantage of coming equipped with removable drip trays, which make cleaning up grease a breeze. In sum, gas grills offer a much simpler, quicker, and more convenient way to grill food in comparison to other types of grills. So, if you’re looking for a portable gas-powered grill that’s reliable as well as easy to transport and operate outdoors, then the Weber Traveler is a great option for you to go with.

Now, we’d like to welcome you to read our detailed review of the Weber Traveler below, where we discuss in detail all the different features and functionalities that this portable gas grill has to offer you.
DESIGN & SPECS
Starting with the grill’s size, this gas grill has a noticeably compact form factor, measuring exactly 43.6 inches long by 23 inches wide by 37.2 inches tall (110.74 x 58.42 x 94.48 cm) when completely unfolded, while also being reasonably lightweight, as it only weights 32 lbs. (14.51 kg).
As mentioned before, this gas grill is designed both with portability in mind and also to offer its users an easy, one-handed setup. As such, the grill itself comes attached to an heavy-duty, all-terrain, foldable cart frame equipped with a set of two (x2) large all-weather rubberized wheels which not only makes it fairly easy to transport it outdoors on any type of terrain (whether that’s dirt, grass, rocky ground, etc.), but also allows you to set it up quickly so that you’re up and grilling in no time.
Furthermore, the leg stands from its cart frame can be effortlessly folded down inwards, transforming the grill to an impressively compact size, thus making it easy to store it inside the trunk of pretty much any car, regardless if you own a small vehicle with a relatively small trunk or even a truck or jeep with a larger trunk space.
The grill’s cart frame also comes equipped with a built-in safety latch that securely keeps its frame folded down during its transportation inside a vehicle and also when you have it stored away.
Not only that, but the grill’s lid also comes equipped with a built-in safety lid lock that automatically latches its lid shut once the grill’s cart frame is folded down. This is a really neat safety feature that helps to ensure the grill’s lid stays closed when it’s time to pack it up.
Furthermore, integrated at the front-side of its cart frame’s base, there’s also a built-in stand that keeps the grill perfectly leveled horizontally (i.e. parallel) to the ground to ensure its lid doesn’t get damaged.
The Weber Traveler also features a cool-looking and “outdoorsy” design, coming in a gorgeous solid metallic paint color, which has a smooth finish to it. For our review unit, the company was kind enough to provide us with the Red color model, which we absolutely love. (Still, there’s also 3 other color options available – mentioned at the end of the article).
More importantly, this portable gas grill also packs a really high-quality and durable construction, especially its cart frame, which is really built to last.
Moving on to the grill’s different components. For its cooking area, the Weber Traveler comes equipped with a set of two (x2) porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates which combined offer you a large rectangular grilling area with 320 sq.in. of cooking space, making it spacious enough to fit up to 15 burgers or 20 sausages, so you can have enough food for a big group, all ready to eat at the same time.
What’s more is that this gas grill also comes equipped with a large side table (integrated at the right-hand side) where you can easily prepare food, including chopping, as well as glazing, etc.
In addition, the grill’s table also comes equipped with a set of three (x3) tool hooks where you can conveniently hang your favorite cooking utensils and keep them at hands reach.
Below the grill itself, there’s also a removable drip tray integrated directly below the grill that safely collects any excess grease from your culinary creations, allowing for an easier cleaning of the grill once you’re done cooking.
When it comes to its cooking method, know that this gas grill utilizes a high-end Stainless Steel burner which offers you a wide low-to-high temperature range of up to 13,000 BTUs that can be easily adjusted via a large temperature control knob. Thanks to its widely adjustable temperature range, this portable gas grill is perfectly suitable for searing steaks, grilling juicy chicken, cooking fluffy pancakes and breakfast burritos, and grilling / barbecuing all other sorts of food.
Integrated at the top-center of the grill’s lid, there’s also a built-in high-end thermometer that enables you to easily monitor its cooking temperature with great precision so that you can make sure your food doesn’t go over (or under) your targeted cooking temperature. Therefore, you can always hit the doneness levels for foods like steak (such as rare, medium-rare, medium-well, and well-done) without requiring you to open the grill’s lid just to check on your food’s current cooking state.
Lastly, for its fuel source, as mentioned before, this gas grill is also purposefully designed to optimize gas usage, for which it utilizes a 16 oz. / 1 lb. liquid propane cylinder that can be conveniently attached onto a holding bracket integrated under its base.
Nevertheless, note that this grill can also accommodate a full-size 320 oz. / 20 lbs. fuel tank by using an adapter hose.
INTERFACE / CONTROL PANEL
We’ll now have a closer look at the grill’s control panel.
Integrated at the far-right side of the grill’s cart frame, you have its temperature control knob, which allows you to easily perform adjustments to its temperature range whenever necessary.
Sitting close to its left side, you have the grill’s dedicated burner-ignition button, which is used for drawing liquid propane onto its high-end Stainless Steel burner to quickly get its flames going.
