Staying safe while going about your daily routine is something everyone values, whether you’re commuting, traveling, or simply out for a walk. A personal safety alarm offers a simple yet effective way to ensure your safety, as these devices can emit a loud sound that helps deter potential threats and quickly alert others nearby. The problem with most safety alarms comes down to whether or not they’ll work when you actually need it. Most dupe personal safety alarms run on button cell batteries with no charge indicator, meaning they might fail the moment that matters most. Unlike knock-off safety alarms that only look like protection, Pebblebee’s Halo does something no cheap safety device can: the moment you activate it, your live location is instantly shared with the people you trust most.
The Pebblebee Halo is a connected personal safety device that combines a physical emergency trigger, a loud 130dB alert siren and a 150 lumen strobe light. It also features live location sharing, instantly sharing your real-time location with up to five trusted contacts via SMS when activated. It also has a silent alert mode and integrated Link scan-to-return technology on the back, which helps recover it if lost.
The device boasts Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and works with Apple Find My or Google’s Find Hub, doubling as an item finder. It offers up to 12 months of battery life and charges via USB-C.
Built around protection, trusted contacts, and rapid response, this dedicated personal safety device turns your everyday keychain into a lifeline.
Here’s our in-depth review of the Pebblebee Halo, where we talk more about its standout features and discuss its pricing.
DESIGN & SPECS
Starting with its size, this personal safety device has a compact form factor, meaning it fits easily inside a pocket or bag. The device measures 2.7 inches long by 1.1 inches wide by 0.7 inches thick (69 mm x 28 mm x 18 mm).

Alternatively, you can also attach it to your keychain for easy access.

The Pebblebee Halo sports a minimalist aesthetic, which gives it very discreet appearance. It comes in a solid Black Matte color.
Moreover, the device also packs a durable construction and has a IP66 water-resistance rating.
Moving on to its main components. For activating its personal safety functionalities, the Pebblebee Halo comes equipped with a physical emergency trigger with a pull-ring design, which enables users to pull the device apart.

The device also features a loud 130dB alert siren designed to continuously attract attention and deter threats. This built-in siren is actually louder than the 97-decibel siren on the Pebblebee Clip.
Additionally, it features a 150 lumen strobe light equipped with bright LEDs that help bring extra attention to you at night. Its 150-lumen light also enables you to use the device as a standalone flashlight when needed.

Features a 150 lumen strobe light
Lastly, the device also has integrated Link scan-to-return technology on the back. This consists of a QR-code stamp, which helps you easily recover it if you ever lose it. Therefore, if someone ever finds your Halo after you lose it, they can simply scan its QR-code to get your contact details and return the device to you.

HOW IT WORKS?
Pulling apart the Halo’s emergency trigger instantly activates its 130dB siren and 150-lumen strobe light.
While these features serve as an immediate deterrent to an attacker and a way to signal to others nearby, the Halo also works with Pebblebee’s connected safety features, similar to the Clip.
As such, when pulled apart, the device’s live location sharing is also activated. The free Safety Circle feature sends a pre-configured trusted contact an SMS message containing a secure link to the location where you triggered the alert.
In addition, the Halo also supports Pebblebee’s Alert Live functionality, which instead shares the tracker’s live location with up to five trusted contacts. The tracker comes with a 12-month subscription to Alert Live, but after that the service is $24.99 per year.
Best of all, the tracker also has a silent alert mode, which discreetly notifies your Safety Circle without activating its loud siren or strobe light. This alert mode is best used for emergency situations where discretion is a safer option.
CONNECTIVITY
For its item-tracking capabilities and for pairing it with its mobile app, the Pebblebee Halo uses Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. The device supports a Bluetooth range of up to 500 ft.
It’s also compatible with Apple Find My and Google’s Find Hub networks, meaning it also has built-in item finding capabilities. This enables you to find a lost item you attached the Halo to via your phone, such as your keychain for example.
You can connect it to either Apple’s Find My or Google’s Find Hub networks, but not both simultaneously.

BATTERY & BATTERY LIFE
For its power, the device boasts a built-in Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery that offers up to 12 months of battery life.
When its battery is running low on power, you can recharge the device via USB-C. Its USB-C charging port is located on the top-left of the device under a plug cover.

THE SMARTPHONE COMPANION APP – Pebblebee App
For configuring the Pebblebee Halo’s connected safety features, users need to install the Pebblebee App on their smartphone (available for iOS and Android).
Via the Pebblebee App, you can configure your Safety Circle / Alert Live contact(s), meaning your trusted emergency contacts.

You can also configure instructions for the device’s Link-scan-to-return feature, which are shown to the person who finds your Halo (if lost) in text-format once they scan the device’s QR-code on the back.

The app also shows you the device’s remaining battery life, letting you know when it needs to be recharged.
